Bristol Classic Rums

Classic Rums: Jamaica & Cuba

Jamaica Rum 2002 Vale Royal

Molasses based, with the aid of “dunder” and a long fermentation, this pot still rum is an example of the classic “Vale Royal” style. First produced in the early 20th century to supply “rum concentrate” for blending with local neutral spirits it is of the Wedderburn type with an ester level of between 300/500 ppm.

Pale in colour having been matured in well used oak Cognac casks it has a high toned nose, leading to a concentrated and mouth filling pallet. Fruit with only slight wood leads to a short but high powered finish. A really interesting example of this type of rum.

Mix long or in special cocktails.

Cuban Rum 2003

This Cuban Rum was produced at the Sancti Spiritus distillery based in the city of the same name in Central Cuba.

Molasses based and distilled in a column still, it was then filled to oak barrels for maturation. Shipped to the UK we have now bottled it to offer a stylish example of Classic Cuban Rum.

Pale gold in colour with a herbal and fruity nose which leads to a spicy and well-defined palate and a medium length finish.
